What makes 4Leaf recipes special?

This beautiful meal is the first one listed in the “breakfast” category–and it features uncooked, cold oatmeal. Surprisingly good.

According to Amazon, there are over 177,000 cookbooks available, 11,000 of them are vegetarian and almost 8,000  are vegan. In addition, there are now hundreds of apps and websites devoted to healthy recipes. So what’s so special about 4Leaf Recipes and why are they needed?

Almost all of the meals on this website and in our book will score at the 4Leaf level–deriving at least 80% of their calories from whole plants. That fact is what sets our collection of 100% plant-based recipes apart from all others. Remember, “vegan” is not necessarily healthy–unless it is mostly WHOLE plants.

Where are we lacking right now? We don’t have very many great photos that accompany our recipes. And we don’t have as many recipes in each of our categories as we would like. But we do have great tasting and super nutritious meals, most of which have been developed by my daughter-in-law, Lisa Hicks.

With one or two exceptions, every recipe on this site scores in the 4Leaf range–deriving over 80% of their calories from whole plant-based foods, still in Nature’s package. So take a look at the dropdown list under “Recipes” above and let us help you ensure that all of your routine meals are in the 4Leaf column.

CAUTION. Eating the 4Leaf way may quickly decrease your need for medications. You should tell your physician what you’re doing. If he/she is unfamiliar with or skeptical of this eating-style, please direct him or her to nutritionstudies.org and plantrician.org.
